It's an old rationed burger joint, but you have to watch them make the sugar cones. It's the original hand made machine. It's fascinating.

This place is a must for desserts. Most of the food isn't much to write home about, but the milkshakes are to die for and being in a shady part of town, you might! The risk is definitely worth the reward.

The menu has a large variety of food. The food is always fresh and delicious. The fries are great they come unsalted because it is designed to be seasoned to your own taste. The portion is a normal size. Carbohydrates should be eaten in moderation. I have been coming here for years. I can always guarantee I will get exactly what I want.

Always has been Mr. Doumar wanted his employees to have off Sunday's to spend with there familys.
That’s right Grant, Doumar’s has been operating at 1919 Monticello Avenue since 1934. We have been in Norfolk since 1907. We started out at the Ocean View Amusement Park.

Contrary to popular belief, Doumar's has never had curb service on skates. There used to be a curb separating the restaurant and the curb service parking area, which has been paved over. They are usually confused with a similar drive in that was about a block over, called Shoes, which has since closed their doors. Their curb service girls wore skates and hot pants.

I think so
I would definitely get the BBQ sandwich with coleslaw and an order of fries. Now my grandmother's favorite was the Taylor Pork Roll sandwich which is a regional favorite amongst older generations in this area. For dessert, I also get the hot fudge cake. But you can't really go wrong with any of the desserts. The ice cream cones are homemade, so worth a try. Enjoy!
